Just another thought, have you come across another book called "Vivians" A family in Victorian Cornwall by M.V.Hughes ISBN 0 19 281303 X First published by Oxford University Press 1935. First issued as an Oxford University Press paperback in 1980. You may find this interesting reading too. Joan
