Donna, Welcome to the world of the VA. My husband was a Green Beret sniper in Nam so he was all over places he still can't talk about. He has high blood pressure (does not run in his family), diabetes (not in the family); Agent Orange induced asthma along with many others. (a buddy of his that was in the same areas is about 5 years ahead of him in the progression of these diseases and spends 1-2 hours a day on a nebulizer or oxygen.) A once or twice a year emergency visit and stay at the Hosptial is abo--------ut normal for us. If your brother has children get him to file with the VA for disability. They have just added the diabetes as a known factor with Agent Orange. It takes the VA forever. We have been waiting 2 years for a rating review since his last increase of benefits. Even after he dies his children will get this money but not if he never applies. Don't give up.
