Maj Chas Roby was an AF pilot attached to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing. On 3/3/67, he was flying a mission over North Vietnam in an F4C Phantom jet along with his his weapons operator LtCol Floyd Richardson when they were shot down. The were considered Missing in Action, and neither man was released as a POW in 1973. In late 1989, the North Vietnamese announced that they had 'discovered' the remains of both men and returned them to the US. There has been no further evidence that either men had ejected safely nor survived the crash. Obituaries or articles around this timeframe near Iowa City, TX should give names/clues as to his relatives were.
