Jill, I would like to reccomend a book for you to read that has been recently released. "A Walk on the Sidewalk" by David William McCormick, published by 1stBooks. It is a book that gives the day to day happenings of a combat command RTO (radio telephone operator)int the 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Wolfhounds. The stories are all tru as I served with Dave in Viet Nam. Dave was able to put into words what many many of us felt and went thru, but could not express ourselves.

A group of us got togeather in June of 2002 for a reunion in Washington DC for the first time in 33 years and it was a very emotional experience for all of us. Two of the CO's I served with were also there, and One just retired as a Brig. General and lives in Virginia. Many times he had taken friends to the Wall, but always stopped short of going to the wall himself. Last year, as a group , we (including him) paid tribute to our fallen brothers that died during our tour. I personally came away with a feeling of closure to that part of my life as did the others.

All Viet Nam vets now hold their heads high and can now proudly say that they served their country when they were called to do so and not be called names and spit on like we were when we returned back then.
