Rahway Cemetery is rather large, but well laid out. It goes back to 1741 and is fairly easy to walk. A lot of the old ledgers were lost in a fire, but they were able to salvage many of them that went back into the 1800's. The woman who handles the records is in her 80's and can be quite persnickety and always asks for money to search the records.
FYI, the Elizabeth Public Library has the Jersey Journal (later the Daily Journal) newspapers on microfilm back to the Rev War. They do searches for obits and the like for $6.00 a pop. Rahway is just a few miles from Elizabeth and was covered extensively in these newspapers.
Also, FYI, there are not quite a dozen Brown's buried in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Elizabeth.
