Thanks Lois. I could not remember who it was that told me that Jonathan and Elizabeth Pope Vanscoy moved to Indiana. It certainly helps me eliminate at least one possibility. I know that Arminda was living with Samuel and Elizabeth Kinnison in 1860. Arminda is listed as being on 5 or 6 on that census. She was listed as Arminda Kinnison when she married Harmon Cotterell in 1866 so if that age was correct then she would have only been 11 or 12 at the time of her marriage. Elizabeth and Samuel were married in 1856 and according to Arminda's Death Certificate, she was born in 1850. all the records beside the 1860 census indicate she was born abt 1850 All of the birth records that I have found for children and her children's obits list her maiden name as Vanski, Vansky or Vanscoy.
An LDS file list Jonathan Vanscoy (who married Elizabeth Pope) as having a sister Elizabeth who married Samuel Kinnison. I do not believe this is correct. Another avenue I have been looking at with little progress is one Nicholas Vansky who was m.to Elizabeth Wilson in 1843 and a Nicholas Vansky who was m. to Elizabeth Weace in 1845 (Pike County, Ohio). I do not know if this is two different Nicholas Vanskys or the same fellow getting remarried. It has created quite a puzzlement for me though. At least I have one less possiblity to look at.
