Sorry, one addition - when I said Barnbarroch was the only surviving line of the surname, I meant nobility lines whose surname came from de Vaux. The name itself - often modified to Vaux, Vaulx, Voss, or a dozen other variants - did continue in several areas including Cumberland, Yorkshire, and East Lothian, among others, as a non-noble family, and many English descendants with those variants can trace their surnames back through those lines.
