You have a huge task before you since you don't even know the county Kirk Bell came from in Virginia. One odd thing about him is that in the census listing for him in 1870 in Davis Co., TX, his 8 year old son is listed as being born in Texas. This would make the family in TX around 1862, before the emancipation. Either Kirk was not a slave, or his owner moved to TX and brought Kirk and family along. Sandra
