Thomas Dodd Gowin is the son of Richard Gowan and Mary Bennett according to his oldest child George Richard Gowin of Grants Pass, OR in 1885 Thomas was born 16 May 1810 and at one time lived next to Abraham Lincoln's stepmothers farm in Coles Co IL. Thomas was the oldest of nine children Mary Gowin b 1812 Martha W. Gowin b 1814 Major Redul Wilson Gowin b 8 Jan 1816 Richard A. Gowin b 1818 John Paxton Gowin b 10 Sept. 1820 Ann B. Gowin b 1823 Rachael Gowin b 1826 George A.
