John Tomlinson, Sr., b. by 1695, probably Charles City Co., VA; d. 19 Dec 1760-20 May 1762; m. by 1730 and perhaps earlier Mary Chappell, daughter of Thomas Chappell and Elizabeth Jones (who m.2 Thomas Taylor). The births of John's youngest three children, Elizabeth, Burrell and Anne, were recorded in Albemarle Parish register, but his death and that of Mary were not. Appreciate data on his ancestors and descendants.

John Tomlinson, Jr. d. 6 Aug 1781-21 Jan 1782, Greensville Co., VA; m. Susanna (Tatum?) Christopher Tatum, Jr. and Bathia Tatum (and John Adkins) were godparents of their son Lucas; a descendant was named Susanna Tatum Collier. John and most of his children moved to Lancaster Co., SC; John moved back to Virginia during the Revolutionary War, but Susanna returned to SC. Some children migrated to Putnam Co., GA, some to Stewart Co., TN.

Thomas Tomlinson, b. by 1729, Surry Co., VA; d. 17 May 1792-7 Mar 1793, Sussex Co., VA; m. Mary (Cotton?), who d. 27 Feb-7 Sep 1797, Sussex. Children William, John, Robert, Elizabeth m. Birdsong, Mary m. Miles Birdsong, Anne m. Benjamin Ellis, Lucy m. John Cross, Benjamin, Burwell.

Capt. James Tomlinson, b. by 1731, Surry Co., VA; d. 25 Oct 1779-24 Apr 1780, Brunswick Co., VA; m. 1 c1763 Amy Weaver; m. 2 27 Sep 1779, Brunswick, Mrs. Elizabeth Morris (who m. 3 4 Jan 1781 John Jeter, Jr.). Slaves were acquitted of murdering James. Children: Burwell, Mrsy m. Thomas Wooten, William m. Winifred Lenoir Norwood, John m. Sarah Stewart, James. Grandson William Stewart Tomlinson.

Rebecca Tomlinson, b. by 1725, Surry Co., VA; m. James Heath.When and where were they b., m., d.? Children Benjamin, Amy, John, Suky, Selah, Mary, Rebecca, James, b. 1740-1760, christened in Albemarle Parish.

Mary m. William Wrenn.(When and where were they b., m., d.?) Their children Theodrick and Elizabeth Wrenn were named in the 1760 Sussex will of Mary's brother William Tomlinson and 1765 will of her brother Burrell Tomlinson.

Anne, b. 6 May 1745, Albemarle Parish, Surry Co., VA;(when, where did she d.?) m. Travis Weaver, b. 18 Mar 1743/4, Albemarle Parish, Surry, son of Edward Weaver and Mary. Child Elizabeth Weaver, b. 31 Mar 1766; Benjamin Weaver, b. by 1765.

Sarah, d. aft 1780, Chatham Co., NC; m. 1 ? Wall; m. 2 by 1760 Nicholas Partridge. Children John Wall; Burrell Partridge, b. 4 July 1762, Albemarle Parish, Sussex Co., VA; Anna Partridge, b. 6 Mar 1760, Albemarle Parish.

John Tomlinson Sr.'s son Benjamin, d. 24 Apr 1759-15 June 1759; son William d. 23 Nov-19 Dec 1760; son Burrell (Burwell) b. 11 Mar 1742/3, Albemarle Parish, Surry, d. Jan 1765, Albemarle Parish, Sussex; daughter Elizabeth, b. 25 Nov 1739, Albemarle Parish, Surry, apparently d. by 1759, for she was not named in the wills of her brothers or father.
