Hi Margie, we may just be related when we get through all our communication! I am related to the Walter Cocke line...as history has it...Three Cocke brothers came from Eng...they were Capt and Col of ships, who brought passengers to America
and were compensated by the government with land grants...the three was Richard, Walter & Thomas...another, Christopher was a brother or cousin...Another story says that Walter's father was killed by the government, and Walter came over as an indentured servant...Still do not know which story is correct!
I find much information on Richard, but very little on my Walter...About the Goodrich...not familiar with that name, but I have ancestors from the Goode line...Edward was the first of a long line...and, there are two different stories...one John Goode from Eng, sailed to Barbados, m. his wife Martha Frances Mackerness, they had two sons, Edward and John...my ancestor was Edward...After John's wife died shortly after coming to Virginia, he married a second time and had twelve children by her...my line is from John's first wife's son, Edward...the other story is that my Goode line is not from John Goode of Eng, and Barbados...but, 'our' Goode was an Edward who came over as (another) an indentured servant...So hard to find the 'real' stories...This may be the Goode family that you are referring to...Anything you happen to have and might share, will be appreciated! Dee
