I'm looking for any info I can find on my ancestor, William Colquitt Henry (WCH) Lee 1805?-1854, husband of Hester Ann Yopp Lee 1817-1875, of Dublin, Laurens county, GA. I know that he came to Laurens county in the mid-1820s.
I have been trying in vain to locate information about his parentage, although I know Hester's information already. The History of Laurens County, GA vol I indicates that he was from Franklin, VA. However, I've searched both Franklin the town, in Southampton county, VA, and Franklin county, VA which is in the upcountry south of Roanoake. No near matches.
I did find a near match with a William Lee, born about 1805 in bertie county, NC (this is right on the VA/NC border and quite close to the town of Franklin, VA). This william's father and grandfather were named Henry, which has continued on through the generations of our family. Someone descended from these Bertie county (possibly Onslow county) Lees might be able to help.
If anyone thinks they may know more about this guy WCH Lee, his parentage, what he owned, and ESPECIALLY where he might be buried, I would be forever grateful.
Thanks and regards,
