I am looking for information on a Mary Feild/Field who married Capt. Richard Taylor of Petersburg in the late 1760's, and were the parents of George Keith Taylor.
Capt. Richard Taylor [Jr.] (26 Dec 1739 - after 1790) was the son of Capt. Richard Taylor [Sr.] who married ca. 1735 Sarah Walker (b. ca.1700), daughter of George Walker and Anne Keith of Elizabeth City Co. Anne Keith was the daughter of George Keith, a well known Quaker preacher from England who also preached in the Colonies in the late 1600's.
George Keith Taylor was in older records shown as being the son of Richard Taylor and Sarah but his birthdate of 16 May 1769 makes that impossible. A more recent reference introduces "Mary", but I have been unable to verify it. Richard Jr. had a sister Nancy (Nanny) (b 1 May 1742) who married Theophilus Feild (II), so Mary may be of that family. George Keith Taylor was a prominent attorney in Virginia, and a close friend of Chief Justice John Marshall. G.K. Taylor (d 10 Nov 1815) married 22 Dec 1799 in Farquier Co. Va., Jane Marshall (29 Jul 1779-13 Sep 1866), next to the youngest sibling (of 14) of John Marshall.
