I got most of the info from you on your post a while back. All I knew is that he was supposedly born in Petersburg, but I did email you I believe, and noted that his son and daughter, in a 1910 OK census listed him as born in Ireland. But the info I had gotten from familysearch.org, had two people that had only that info on him as born in Petersburg. Who to believe? I am in VA. and went to Petersburg, and all records in cities are not listed in counties, the cities are not part of counties in VA. I was told that any info may come from surrounding Dinwiddie Co. or another close by. And due to the war, it is possible that the court records were destroyed. There are more Carters in this state, than Carter has liver pills. There are two prominent Carter families here, and one is linked in marriage to Robert E. Lee. Look up Richard "King" Carter, and Shirley Plantation on the web. They were Goveners, etc, in the early years of the Commonwealth of VA. It would take some research to find the connection, but they started in Williamsburg, and the surrounding areas.
Feel free to email me directly.
