Thanks for postings on the Adams and Pigg families, which at least eliminated some suspects and also highlighted others for future research. As I said though, my primary interest is Wiley Owen (born @1802 – 11 Sep 1897) who married Mary Ann Woodson (born @1809 – 8 Sep 1876) on 2 Dec 1824. Mary was the daughter of Drury and Nancy Adams Woodson, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. I am particularly interested in the intersection of the Owen family and the Adams and Pigg family as it may reveal helpful clues. DNA testing has indicated it is a real relationship; however, as with other clues and tools, the proof will be in defining a specific relationship. Thanks for the thoughtful reminder about internet use, which I'm sure must frustrate you in your research. But I have to give some credibility to postings such as, "Judy Adams Allen (4th great grand-daughter of Elkanna Adams) says Elkannah "Cain" & Mary Ann Pigg Adams originally lived in Pittsylvania Co., Va., but sold their property in 1805 and moved to Madison County, Ky. Judy says they possibly moved to follow Mary Ann's brother William Pigg who lived in a part of Madison County that later became Clay County, Ky. Judy says Elkannah died shortly after moving to Madison County and is buried in the Fogletown area of Clay County. As of February 2001 the his grave had not been located." That kind of clue is something worth following up on to see if there is more substance to it. I hope others can wade thru the now numerous and lengthy postings and see my request: does anyone have any useful info on the Owen relationship to the Pigg and Adams families in Pittsylvania Co VA circa 1800? If so, I look forward to sharing what info I have with you on the Pigg and Adams families. Regards |
