I have encountered two separate geneaologies for children of a marriage ca. 1772 of a William Noel and Sarah Simmons both apparently of Mecklenburg Co. VA.
One genealogy gives children as Ephraim P., John R., Jesse, James, maybe a William E., and two daughters who marry a Monroe and a Garnett. These children seem to be b. in North Carolina.
The second geneaology I have uncovered describes children of a William Noel/Nowell and a Sarah Simmons (Mecklenburg, Co. VA) list children as Fielding, Samuel, William, James, Foster, Polly -- and the birth dates make more sense (ca. 1773 - ca. 1785). I am pretty sure that this second group of children represent a large family that ended up in northwest Alabama as planters near other Simmons relatives - but can't be sure. Can anyone help????
