The son of Thomas Tune and Anne Harris Tune, Travis Tune was born February 15, 1731/32 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia. Record of his birth can be found in "North Farnham Parish 1663-1814 and Lunenburg Parish 1783-1800, Richmond County, Virginia", page 189, by George Harrison King.
He moved to Halifax County, Virginia by early 1750's where he witnessed a deed as early as 27 May 1754. According to the family bible of his son John, Travis's wife was Frances, maiden unknown at this time.
I have extensive records of original documents for him & NONE show his given name as James. He has been mixed up & confused by some with James Toone of Mecklenburg County who married Milly Daniel, also of Mecklenburg. They both lived at the same time, about 50 miles apart.
Travis Tune left his will in Halifax naming all 12 of his children. It was written on February 28, 1818, with a codicil added on January 7, 1824. It was proved in court on Dec. 24, 1827.
James Toone of Mecklenburg died prior to 1800...his estate was secured by a bond of 200 pounds on 9 Jul 1798 with Samuel Allgood as the security. The administrator of his estate was Thomas Daniel.
