Has anyone heard of “Tatter’s Creek” in Mecklenburg Co., VA? Also, if you know anything about this John Batts or the people referenced in the will abstract copied below, I would be interested in knowing. John Batts, his mark, Berkeley County [South Carolina]. Son: Henry. Other children: [not named]. Mentions: to Donnes Cates and John Studaun, my land in Mecklenburg County in Virginia on Tatter’s Creek; residue of estate divided “among my children.” Exors: Joseph King, John Battes; Mr. John Musgrove.
