In 1784 in Henry Co, VA Joseph Jones sells land on both sides of the Pigg River to William Standefer. This area is in Lunenburg and several Virginia counties as the boundaries change over time.
In 1785 in Henry Co, VA, William Standefer and Thomas Jones are administrators to the accounting of the estate of Joseph Jones. Same Joseph Jones? No will found.
I would like to find when Joseph Jones first obtained that land along the Pigg River. It might help me determine if he is old enough to be the father of the above Thomas Jones.
Thomas Jones is the father-in-law of William Standefer. Jemima Jones, married William Standefer 24 Jun 1779, in Henry Co, VA. Marriage record said her father was Thomas Jones.
I will be going to Salt Lake City soon and plan on concentrating on records for Joseph Jones, yes there is more than one. Thomas named his first son Joseph, so I feel there is a good chance the father of Thomas is named Joseph.
If you are working on any of this I would be happy share information.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
