During the late 1890's Nancy Minerva contacted her son John requesting that he assist her in identification of her Grandfather, JAMES JAYNES. She explained that James was drafted into British Navy during the Rev. War and spent about 7 years in service. When the war was over he remained in America & became a citizen of the VA Colony. Nancy remembered that James had several sons but could not remember their names. John Davis contacted a London Barrister who agreed to assist but since she had so little information & less money the matter was dropped. Perhaps James settled in Lee Co., VA. Nancy stated that James Jaynes d. about 1840 in Richmond, IN. but I could find no evidence of his death.
