I don't have the exact names you are looking for, but I do have some information on Riners that were married in Greene County.
1) Albert D. Riner, 25 yrs, m. Frances Cox (no age given) on 12/24/1850. Albert was the son of Aaron and Mary Riner. No parents are listed for Frances.
2) William D. Riner, 44, born in Madison County, married Ann Roberts, 27, born in Greene County, on 12/28/1859. Parents of William were Aaron and Mary Riner. Parents of Ann were John and Agnept (that's the spelling, but it could be a typo and the name might be Agnes) Roberts. However, here are both names you are looking for - Riner and Roberts.
3) George Lee Riner, 35, born in Greene Co., married Lillie B. Dickerson, 19, born in Greene Co., on 12/04/1899. George's parents are W. & A. Riner, and parents of Lillie are J. & E. Dickerson.
There were several Roberts women listed, but no Sallie.
In Albemarle County, which abuts Greene Co., Jacob Riner married Matilda Estes on 10/24/1824. No parents are named. Its important to remember that Greene Co. wasn't established until 1838, and part of Albemarle later became Greene, so its possible Jacob and Matilda lived in what later became Greene.
Last, I show a Thomas Riner and Nancy Cammack posted banns on 8/7/1842 in Rockingham Co. No other helpful information is given.
In the 1860 census for Greene Co., there is a W.D.(William D. I listed above?) Riner, 40, listed as a laborer, living with the household of J. W. Archer, who was a farmer. I wonder if this is the same person since the age is off by 5 years, and if it is the same person I wonder what became of Ann.
One clue you might focus on is that William D. gave his county of birth as Madison. If this is true, there may be other Riners in that county, and if you believe your John W. and Sallie emigrated from somewhere else, it could have been from there.
Hope some of this information is helpful. Good luck to you.
