A few months ago I submitted an application to register Samuel Dent as a DAR patriot. It was returned with a request to provide more information on his birthdate/age.

I am a descendant through his daughter, Lavina who married Robert Beatty in Franklin Co., MO.

Researchers, including me, have Samuel's birth as being anywhere from circa 1755 - 1765, which would be critical for determining if he actually served even at the end of the Revolutionary War in Maryland. I thought he was the Samuel Dent in Clarkson's Regiment. He supposedly went from MD to Henry and Franklin Cos., VA and then Madison Co., KY before Franklin Co., MO.

In Samuel Dents 1834 Franklin Co., MO will, which does not give his age says he is old and infirm. The KY 1800 census has a bracket for 45 or older, but evidently those records were lost and tax records were used in place for that year. 1810 records list him as over 45.

If you have suggestions for further pinpointing his birthdate, I would love to know. I have Leon Wilde's complete Dent genealogy plus several book sources, and so far from my search, age cannot be determined. Any ideas?
Thanks! G. George
