Will of William Gossom

The Last Will and Test of William Gossom being in a weak and very Low state of Health But of a True and Sound Memory by the grace of God Amen. First it is my Desire that all my Just and Lawfull Debts be Truly and Fully Satisfied and Discharged. Secondly I Leave to my beloved Wife Grace Gossom a childs part of all my personall Estate, and Thirdly it is my Desire that after my Wife Grace Gossom Hath Taken the part above mentioned that all the rest of my personall Estate be Eaquelly Divided amoungst my Sons and Daughters which are Thomas Gossom Jesse Gossom John Gossom Elizabeth Suddath Mary Gossom, James Tuttle John Babtist Tuttle William Tuttle Charity Buchanan. to the care and management of Grace Gossom, and Thomas Gossom Executors…William his mark Gossom Test. William King, John his mark Spragg, Joseph Jacobs Senr.

We Grace Gossom and Thomas Gossom, Executors appointed by the Last Will and Testament of William Gossom Deceased, Do Hereby certify to the Worshipfull the County Court of Fairfax, That We do refuse to act as Executors under said Will, and Further that it is our Desire that administration of the Estate of the Decd (with the Will annexed) may be granted to Alexander Henderson who is the greatest and almost the only creditor. We therefore pray this Wosp.full Court may grant Administration of the said Estate to the sd Alexander Henderson accordingly…given under our Hands This 12th Day of June 1775. Wagener…At a Court held for Fairfax County June the 19th, 1775…This Will was presented in Court by Alexander Henderson Gent and proved by the Oathes of William King and Joseph Jacobs Senr, two of the Subscribing Witnesses and Ordered to be Recorded, and Grace Gossom Executrix and Thomas Gossom the Executor therein appointed having refused to Act or Take upon them the Burthen of the Execution thereof, Administration of the Deed unto Estate with the Will annexed is granted to the said Alexander Henderson…Henderson who Having Taken the Usual Oath, and Entered into and acknowledged Bond according to Law Hath a certificate for obtaining Letters of Administration in Due Form… Test.
