Stanley, I live in Fairfax Co. There are 19 mentions of 11 Thompsons in Fairfax Co. in the Fairfax County, Virginia A History book. You can order the book for $25.+ 4.5% VA sales tax (make sure you order the one with the above name) at this link http://www.co.fairfax.va.us/visitors/history/histcomm/book.htm Most of the mentions in that book are concerning the Thompson's Dairy family members Theron, a Quaker who immigrated to the Mt. Vernon area of Fairfax Co. from NY in 1869, and his sons, John, Egbert, Daniel, and Arthur. Do these names sound like your ancestors? I must say that the Mt. Vernon area is the opposite side of the county from Vienna, so I am unsure, but that would be a big coincidence if it was two different Thompsons, both in the dairy business! Could the book or you be wrong about the location? Earlier there is a Jonah Thompson, who in 1808 organized construction of the Washington and Alexandria Turnpike, and a Josiah, who was a treasurer of the Little River Turnpike in 1817. Hope this helps. Let me know. Nancy in Fairfax Co. |
