The story handed down in my family is of three Epps brothers who went from Germany to England to Virginia to the blue ridge mountains to Georgia to farm.

As we can see from the Georgia census there were indeed three Epps brothers in the Georgia area early on, William, Thomas and Nathaniel Epps. In the census it is stated that the Epps men came from VA. On my William Epps it stated Dinwiddie, VA. My William Epps married Sarah Alexander in Clarke Co., Athens, GA on 23 Jan 1826.

There is great confusion with the Epps names in GA as they are so familiar and we Epps researchers are attempting to prove who belonged to which Epps line.

I descend from William and Sarah Alexander Epps who are buried on the Epps Bridge Parkway, Athens, GA.

Their son, Thomas North and Cecilia Penelope Jennings EPPS who are buried in Oconee Co., GA in Mars Hill Baptist Church.

Their son, E. O. "Early Oscar" and his 2nd wife Anna Lee Herndon EPPS who are buried in Mars Hill Baptist Church, Oconee Co., GA. 1st wife was Susan "Sunnie" Hodges Epps.

Their son Oscar Earl Epps sr, and Lottie Rebecca Wallace EPPS who are buried in Princeton Methodist Church Cem, Clarke Co., GA.

Their son and my parents William Jesse Earl Epps, Sr and Mary Burger EPPS who are buried in Evergreen Cem, Clarke Co., Athens, GA.

Having said this much, I am researching the Epps surname completely in an effort to determine who belongs to whom.

I went to UGA library last nite to hunt an obit on a Joseph Milton Epps. I believe he might be a brother of my EO Epps.

Joseph M. Epps died in Fulton Co., GA 14 Jun 1940 male, white, 80 years old. Death Certifiate number is 15033. Does anyone have this death certificate or an obituary on this man. Are is he in your line?

I found a will in Clarke Co., GA for a Joseph Milton Epps, husband of a Josephine Lester Epps and a second wife a "Huff".

I am attempting to determine if this is the same person.

Can the Epps researchers email any Joseph M Epps in their line as to what the M initial stands for.

Thanks in advance.
