Jessee Lee Silcox was born at Debusk, Dickenson County, Virginia on May 24, 1893. He was the son of Joseph and Laura (Ball) Silcox. He reported at Clintwood, Dickenson County, Virginia for service in the World War on May 24, 1918, and trained at Camp Lee, Virginia. He was a member of Co. M, 373rd Infantry, 94th Division. He embarked from Newport News, Virginia on the USS Madewaska on August 6, 1918, and arrived at Brest, France on August 21, 1918. He died of wounds received in action in France on November 2, 1918.---information taken from "Gold Star Boys of Clintwood, Virginia, WW1 and WW2"
