I spent some time today researching. Here is what I have found, which is just the tip of the iceberg.

1787 Land Tax Records (the first one I could decipher)
Bullifant, James - 219 acres
Durfey, Francis - 250 acres
Marable, Ann - 130 acres
Marable, William - 104 acres
Parrish, William, Jr. - 178 acres
Parrish, Joseph - 100 acres
Parrish, Elizabeth - 25 acres
Parrish, Mary - 30 acres
Parrish, James - 178 acres

Marable, Parson, Haynes can be followed forever in Chalres City. Gill as well.

Francis Durfey had those 250 acres from 1787-1800. Not on the tax list for 1801.

Personal Property Tax List.
1788 - Francis Durfey. Hard to read some of the columns but looks like there was him, 5 blacks, some houses, horses, carriages?
1789 - Francis Durfey again.
1799 - Francis Durfey
Samuel Durfey
Cornelius Durfey
1800 - Cornelius Durfey
Sam. Durfey
Estate of Francis Durfey
1802 - Cornelius Durfey (no other Durfeys)
Cornelius continues until 1816 when he is shown with 2 tithables. In 1817 there are no Durfeys.

I found a couple of our books with Francis Durfey.

1. Virginia Publick Claims, Charles City County. By Janice L. Abercrombie and Richard Slatten. Francis is on pages 6, 9, 22, and 24.
pg. 6. for 2 horses, sold by John Bond, to Gressett Darn Q.M. for Cont. use lbs. 1000 of which is received by Bond the balance assigned to Durfey lbs. 33-6-8.
pg. 9. for 300# beef, etc. ....
pg. 22. for 30 feet fodder for State
pg. 24. among a group of certificates issed by Maj. Willcox, Commissioner.

2. Charles City County Virginia Records, 1737-1774. Abstracted and Compiled by Benjamin B. Weisiger III.
pages 14, 57, 152.
pg. 14. p. 129. "Francis Tyree of Westover Parish, Charles City Co., for 212, to Francis Durfey, land in Westover Parish. .....
pg. 57. p. 490. Accounts 1771 of William Dancy with Henry Southall, .... paid Francis Durfey for making a suit of clothes ...
pg. 152. p.324. Deed of gift proved by Francis Durfey.

Hope this is helpful.
