Melvin Worrell, 74, of Barren Springs, died Dec. 2, 2001, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Gardner Worrell; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lester Carr of Punta Gorda, FL, Beckie Cox of Pulaski, Barbara and Ronald Surface, Jr. of Draper; sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kelly Worrell and Melvin Edward Worrell all of Barren Springs; sisters, Hattie Simpkins of Radford, Nellie Whitt of Jacksonville, FL, Edna Delap of Pulaski; brothers, William Worrell and Ernest Worrell both of Snowville; eight grandchildren. Funeral will be Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Burial will be in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville VFW Post 1115.

Lorena Phibbs Schrader, 92, of Pulaski, died Dec. 2, 2003, at Pulaski Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 9, 1911 in Hillsville to Bertha Phibbs and Vauda Phibbs. She was a retired cook having worked in many different places in Pulaski as well as owning her own restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kelly Randolph Schrader, one daughter, Margaret Lucille Chinault and one son, Gerald Randolph Worrell; sisters, Gertrude Quesenberry, Inez Wilder, Mae Austin and Jacqueline Mabry. She is survived by four sons Kelly Schrader, Jr., Camden, SC, Calvin Jackson Worrell, Charlotte Hall, MD, William Joseph Worrell, Pulaski, James Edward Worrell, Lawton, OK; one daughter Keri Schrader Vass, Pulaski; one half brother, Melvin Webb, Mount. Airy, MD; also many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.

Roy C. Quesenberry, 79, of 187 Shumate Drive, Collinsville, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. He was born in Carroll County on Oct. 5, 1928, to Dewey Simpson and Ollie Worrell Quesenberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Nelson Quesenberry; a sister, Sylvie Vaughn; and a brother, Connie Quesenberry. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 40 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Grover King Post 1115 in Carroll County. Surviving are a daughter, Becky Q. Goad, of Bassett; a sister, Glenna Ayers of Pulaski; three brothers, Avis Quesenberry of Bassett, Ravis Quesenberry of Collinsville and Paul Quesenberry of Hillsville; and one granddaughter. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville with the Rev. John Wiederholt officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville, P.O. Box 655, Collinsville, Va. 24078. Norris Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
