My name is Patricia King Oscar. My great grandfather was Jesse Martin King. He was supposedly from Carroll County, VA. I am trying to find out who his parents were. My great aunt tells me that there was a big dark secret about his parents and when she was a child no one would talk about it. She said he had 3 HALF sisters, Mary, Nannie, and Lucy. Mary married Isaac Horton or Horten of Fancy Gap and they had Luther and Naomi. Isaac Horton sold part of his farm to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nannie married a Blevins and Lucy married a Hall. If I could find thier maiden names it would be nice. Jesse Martin King married Mary Empress Loving I think from Stokes, NC. They had the following children: Lunie Edward King, aka LLoyd Edward King (my grandfather), Amy, Ted, Hazel, Vincent, Lemuel, Flora Mae. King. Jesse Martin King lived in Greensboro the last 33 years of his life and had King Fuel Oil Delivery. He died Feb 1, 1953. His wife died Nov.13,1969. both in Guilford Co. The first census I find Jesse in is 1900 in Patrick Co. as a laborer living in Hillary Jessup's home. It says he was born in June of 1880. I cannot find a clue of him in the 1880 census. I find him In Danville in 1910 with wife and 3 children one which is named Virgie who must have died young I guess. In 1920 I find Jesse and family in Lexington NC. At this time Lunie was already married to my grandmother Sadie Leonard. Jesse moved his family to Greensboro shortly after this census. Any clues or theories are greatly appreciated. Thanks
