Not much, I'm afraid. James came to Carroll/Grayson from Wythe and moved on to Tennessee. Here's his children;

Descendants of James Durnil

Generation No. 1

1. JAMES1 DURNIL He married PHOEBE.

Notes for JAMES DURNIL:
CARROLL 1765-1815 THE SETTLEMENTS BY JOHN PERRY ALDERMAN (PAGES 103 & 104)

JAMES DURNEL APPEARED ON THE 1793 WYTHE PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LIST. HE DID NOT ACQUIRE LAND UNTIL 1798 WHEN HE BOUGHT A HUNDRED ACRES NORTH OF HILLSVILLE ON REED ISLAND FROM NATHANIEL POPE (GRAYSON, D.B. 1-300). HE OWNED THE PROPERTY FOR THIRTEEN YEARS, SELLING IN 1811 TO PETER FINLEY (GRAYSON, D.B. 3-98). ALTHOUGH JAMES AND HIS WIFE PHEBE SOLD THEIR LAND IN 1811, THEY REMAINED IN THE COUNTY FOR SOME TIME THEREAFTER. PHEBE HAD JOINED THE QUAKER CHURCH IN 1805 AND TEN YEARS LATER SHE WAS GIVEN A CERTIFICATE TO A QUAKER MEETING IN TENNESSEE (1 HINSHAW 1009).
