I think you are correct in your assumption although I have not found the marriage record. The record is not in Carroll, but I haven't researched enough in the surrounding counties.
In the 1860 census, Elizabeth and her children were in the county poor house but were out by 1870. George is not listed in either census so I suspect he died or else they separated in the late 1850's. If so, then Elizabeth likely had 1 child out of wedlock, since Isabel was about 1867.
One daughter, Mary, who married in 1893 and gave her parents as George and Elizabeth Harmon, I also haven't found in the census. (unless she is the Mary Harmon, age 15... although she would appear to be too old)
If you ever find out, I would appreciate a note.
