As I'm sure you know, Caroline is a "burned" county so most official records have been lost. You can find marriages 1787-1810 and a good deal of other information in William L. Hopkins "Caroline County Court Records and Marriages, 1787-1810." Many of the old order books also exist and they are a valuable source of information on individuals that lived in Caroline during the colonial period. You could also consult the following histories of Caroline: Marshall Wingfield, "A history of Caroline Couty, Virginia: from its formation in 1727 to 1924," and T. E. Campbell, "Colonial Caroline: A History of Caroline County, Virginia." The Virginia State Library also has on-line records in its digital collection, including Bible records. You might check the records in adjacent Essex County, Virginia for references to the name Musco(e).
