Carolyn- Just logged onto Brunswick site and saw the correspondence between you and Sue King so thought I would add a little info. Nancy (James) Phillips, widow of William Phillips and her children migrated to Rutherford Co, TN along with her mother , siblings and uncle John James. Also going in same time frame was a Seward from Brunswick whose father who married William Phillips sister, Susannah, in Brunswick. I feel pretty confident that the mother of William (Elizabeth) was a Moore as two of the grandchildren were given a middle name of Moore, Thomas Moore Phillips and Elizabeth Moore Kelly. Thomas was the son of Sterling Phillips, b. 1775 in Brunswick and Mary Williams, B. 1772 Brunswick (both died in Lauderdale, AL). Like you I have wondered if the Sterling name came from the Moores, either VA or NC as there were Sterlings on both sides of the border.

Another sister of William & Sterling, Elizabeth, married Jordan House. Children of Jordan & Elizabeth incl. Isaac Flood house, Claiborne House, Frankey House, Nellie Collier House, and Betsey House. Will was probated Feb. 1803 and witnessed by Isaac Wesson & Janes Mason. I guess the House who went to Rutherford also related to the Phillips line. There were more than one Isaac House so hard to tell which was which.
