HiGreg
Thanks for the reply. George Wray bought land in Brunswick co Va in 1769 with a Henry Yarbrough. I do not know if he was fom Brunswick co Va but he probably was since there were many Wray or Rays in Meherrin Parish in brunswick co Va. George's land was south of the Meherrin River on Quarrel Creek which still exists today in Southeast Brunswick co Va and it ooks like maybe four or five miles northof the NC line. Ther were many Wrays in the southern part of Brunswick co Va. He headed up a road crew in 1771 with a Woolsey. I found a film of the St Andrew Parish vestry in Brunswick co Va but I could not find a vestry book for Meherrin Parish. I have an idea that there would be a record for George Wray when he was born and who his parents were. Would you know how I could find the records for the Meherrin Parish vestry. I am not sure what vestry means. When he sold his land in Brunswick co Va in 1777 the deed listed his wife as Rachel. I do not know when or where they married but it was probably in the 1760's. I believe George weray was born in the 1740's. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ross
