The following marriages are in error and need to be corrected in data bases. As per the Annals of SW Virginia and also on the VA Botetourt site is shown the following marriage:

William Henry and Elizabeth Salmon, June 8, 1802. Botetourt Co. Surety: Jacob Salmon

I wrote for a copy of this marriage record and received a reply that the Botetourt Co. Clerk's office does not have such a marriage.

The following record is also posted on the above site incorrectly:

1780, Jan. 14 Henry, Wm. and Bethoheba Owen

These are the correct dates for the marriage of William Henry and Bethsheba Owens from the Botetourt Co. Clerk's office:

Marriage Register May 8, 1802
Marriage Bond June 8, 1802
Minister's Return Sept. 17, 1802

I am at a loss as to where the original researcher located the Wm. Henry and Elizabeth Salmon marriage and would really appreciate anyone who has the correct marriage date and county to let me know.

I'm also aware that several researchers had originally read the posting that William Henry that married Bethsheba Owens did so in 1780. This William Henry (b. 1754) was married in that time frame to some one else and had several children long before he married Bethsheba Owens in 1802. Hopefully the above will help clarify the early marriages of Henry girls in Botetourt Co. with William Henry, father, giving his approval.

Thanks,
