Hi all, My sister and I are planning a genealogy trip to Virginia in September. We would like to find information on the Hecks and Harshbargers. In the Arch O. Heck book on Daniel David Heck, my sister has the following information (paraphrased as she typed it to me tonight in MSN Messenger!) - ****Daniel David Heck was from the village of Springfield...a newly established community in 1790 about 2 mi south of Natural Bridge the town was never incorporated...the postal address was Lombardy. it is no longer a village as Interstate 81 took over the area. there was a community cemetery (primarily Hecks) and that is where he is buried apparently the family homestead was one of the last 2 remaining homes when the interstate went in**** Does anyone know where this cemetery is located, and does anybody have any information or tips on where to start looking for Heck and/or Harshbarger information? We would like to start planning our trip and hit all the significant courthouses and libraries in Botetourt County and surrounding areas. TIA, Rosemarie (Smith) Beebe |
