Hi, I am looking for information on John Thomas Barnes whom I believe may have been born in Buchanan in Botetourt county in March of 1838. John appears to have served with the confederate forces and may have been captured by the union as a confederate spy. He married Mary S Zimmerman also of Botetourt county about 1866. It appears John went on to be a newspaper printer and located to Bristol Tennessee in Sullivan County. This is the great grandfather of my wife. We live in Northern Virginia and could come to Fincastle or the surrounding area if anyone could advise on where to proceed from here with this information. Thank you, Bart Breen
