The 1918 obituary of my second great grandfather, Pleasant Rosser WALKER, states that he was “born in the Goose Creek Valley of Bedford County November 8, 1829.”

His parents were Thomas WALKER (born ca. 1800) and Dorothy/Dolly ROSSER (1810-1884), who were married in Campbell County in 1828. Dorothy's family was from Campbell County, and Thomas and Dorothy settled back in Campbell County at least by 1842, after spending time in Bedford County and in Buckingham County.

This Thomas WALKER, my third great grandfather, is one of my family's longest-standing brick walls. We do not know who his parents were or from where he came. He likely appears on the 1830 census in the Southern District of Bedford County. Household composition is: 1 white male 20-29 (presumably Thomas), 1 white female 15-19 (presumably Dolly), 1 white male under 5 (presumably Pleasant), and 1 female slave 10-23. Neighboring families included Morgan, Edgar, Chewning (2), Weeks, Rhodes, Smith, Tinsley.

I do not find a Thomas Walker buying, selling, or owning land in Bedford County during this time period (there are land transactions in the 18th century for a Thomas Walker). An older Thomas Walker appears in Bedford County on the 1810 and 1820 census.

Any ideas on this Thomas WALKER and a possible Goose Creek connection would be greatly appreciated.
