Ludiman Norvell was one of the eleven children mentioned in the will of Spencer Norvell of Hanover, Albemarle and Amherst Counties VA. Spencer Norvell’s will was dated June 26, 1829 and was probated in Amherst County, where he died. Has anyone done work on the progeny of Ludiman?

The 1810 U.S. Census of Jessamine, Kentucky has two Norvells: James Norvell, age 26-44; two males under the age of 10 and 2 females, 1 under 10 years old and one aged 26-44. The other head of household was “Lundaman” Norvell, age 26-44, and 3 sons under the age of 10; and one female (26-44).

I cannot locate Ludiman in any U.S. Censuses until 1850. In the 1850 U.S. Census he is located in Bainbridge, Schuyler, Illinois. His first name is “Sienderman”, was born in VA and was age 66. He was head of household living with Frances Stapleton, age 31, b. in Kentucky; Mary A. Stapleton, age 11 born in Illinois, Matilda Stapleton, age 9 born in Illinois and Nancy H. Stapleton, age 5, born in Illinois. (Was Frances a daughter of Ludiman?)

I believe the three sons of Ludiman Norvell are Braxton Norvell, b. 1806; Benjamin J. Norvell, b. 1807; and Russel Norvell, b. 1808 – died before 1880.. All three appear on the same page of the 1860 Amherst Co. VA U.S. Census and Russel is enumerated with his wife, Mary W. Phillips (b. 1812) and children William (b.1840), Marion D.(b. 1842), Andrew J. (b. 1847) and M.A.(female), b. 1848. I believe their first two child were Elizabeth (b.1837) and George William Norvell (b.1838), who had already left the home by 1880.

Am very interesting in documenting the family of Ludiman Norvell. Can you help?
