Hello Carole:

I just discovered the message you had posted on Gen Forum on September 20, 2002 at 14:54. I usually check for messages frequently but we were on a vacation trip to New England and messages have been pushed aside for now.

I would be thrilled to receive the group sheet you mentioned. Please let me know any copying fees incurred in addition to the envelope and postage and I will remit promptly.

We made a trip to Nelson County last year with the hope of finding the Loving gravesites (in an effort to determine some dates for my ancestors). I believe we located the cemetery but could not find anyone in authority to give us permission to access it. Also, locals at the Nelson County Public Library cautioned about the snakes that were active at that time, some of them poisonous.

I drove down Front Street and photgraphed a home which I believe to have been the "summer home" of the Lovings at one time. A copy of an older photograph of the same home is in the public library and is identified as the "Loving house". I will gladly share a copy of the photo if you wish.

We located the Oak Ridge plantation in nearby Shipman but could not locate where the Loving family allegedly had a neighboring plantation at one time. Some reference was made to "White Plains" as its name.

Have you been in contact with Leon Wilson or Charlie Bourland of the Bourland Society? They have been most generous in sharing Loving information with me.

Kindest regards,

Judy Hughes
