I'm researching a Ford line believed by some sources to have come from Amelia County VA to Craven County SC (later named Fairfield County) prior to the American Revolution, where five siblings show up at that time. They were (birth order uncertain):
Hezekiah Ford, who married Elizabeth Clements, also said to have come from Amelia County
Nathaniel Ford, who married Sinah Cloud
William Gardner Ford, who married Magdalen Love
Elizabeth Ford, who married Burrell Burge
Martha Keziah Ford, who married Nicholas Peay.
All marriages but the first are believed to have taken place in Fairfield County SC. The first record I have of land purchased is by William Gardner Ford in 1777, which might be significant in dating a migration from VA. I've looked at the names of all the children of these siblings, hoping to get a clue as to their parentage, but no name really stands out as they were fond of naming their children after each other or members of their spouses' families.
One of the siblings, Nathaniel, is said to have resided in Caroline County before moving to Fairfield County SC. I'm a direct descendant of William Gardner Ford, through his son, Dorrel. I'd like to either pursue the possibility that they came from Amelia County or another Virginia County or rule it out and look elsewhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
