This is my grandmother. Her husband, my grandfather (Robert L. Brown), had died in 1918. At that time, they were living in Manassas, as he was an engineer with the Southern Railway. I believe she was from the Charlottesville area, probably Albermarle, but maybe Madison County.
My father is the youngest, Woodrow. He spoke about going to first grade in Charlottesville, and living on Nalle Street. I suppose they could have lived there before or after the time of the census placing them elsewhere.
I'm curious about what my grandmother may have done to support her family. I don't know how long they lived in Charlottesville, since my father eventually lived again in Manassas and in D.C. He attended junior high and high school in D.C.
I'll be most grateful for any information that you, or anyone else, might be able to provide about their time in Charlottesville or about places for me to look further.
