Well, its been a long time since you posted this message and I hope you find out about my post. Do you have any of the soldier's wives' names?
There are several Mexican War pensions for George Payne. Only one for George Paine: widow Almira, IA-16912R for service in Co C, 1st Artillery as a private.
There is only one pension for Martin Paine, widow Marrena, for service in Company B, 1st Reg Alabama Volunteers.
There is no listing for Manger Payne or Paine pension. Have you tried ordering his Mexican War Bounty Land Application record? From experience I've found sometimes NARA can find a bounty land record easier than military service records. Also, you won't be charged if they can't find it.
If you find where your ancestors were buried, the Descendants of Mexican War Veterans (www.dmwv.org) would like to know the location and if there is a stone marker.
