My Mobile, Alabama, ancestor, Edward Malone, Sr., served as a Private in the 1st Ala. Militia in the Mexican War. He was later a Captain of Co. F, 24th Ala. Inf., CSA. Earlier he was a Lt. in his brother-in-law, Capt. Henry vanBuren's, Rio Grande Volunteer Light Artillery; also known as the Galveston Battery. It's cannon from the Texas Republic Navy. Malone never fully recovered from his war wounds and is buried Trinity Episcopal Church, Galveston. He was a cotten broker both in Mobile and Galveston; the son-in-law of 1812, Mobile, 3rd U.S. Infantry, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr. (Russell County, Alabama, named); as was Capt. Henry vanBuren. Jim Miller, Southport, N.C.
