Greetings,
I have been compiling a data base on the Battle of Buena Vista for 20+ years. One of the many files is a list of all casualties. I reviewed all of the American casualties (I have probably identified about 30 more than reported by the 30th Congress list), and there is no WADE listed as killed, wounded or captured among the soldiers. A few civilians in the employ of the U.S. army participated in the defense of the supply train and of the city, and there but I have not been able to identify anyone by the name of Wade in Saltillo (the neighboring city where the U.S. troops were headquartered before and after the battle).

The closest names that I could find of Buena Vista casualties include:

*Sgt. Joseph D. Ward, Co. H, 2nd Kentucky Regiment of Foot, mortally wounded.
*Pvt. Andrew J. Slade, Co. A, 2nd Illinois Volunteers, wounded.
*Musician Alexandrew M. Woods, Co. D, 2nd Indiana Volunteers, wounded slightly
*Pvt. Edmund Wyatt, Co. K, 2nd Indiana Volunteers, killed
*Cpl. Elias Weddel, C. E, 3rd Indiana Volunteers, wounded severly

I would appreciate hearing from you (or anyone) about the Buena Vista connection of your ancestor. I will be happy to fill in any information I can.

With warmest regards,
John Adams-Graf
