Pat O'Leary B.Inchigeela, Co.Cork 1825 to Cornelius Leary & Julia Cronin m. 2Mar1824, brother of Jemeriah b. 19Aug1827. Went to Calf,USA @ Catholic College to become priest.At outbreak of Mexican/American War abt.1845,Young Pat(16yrs) Scaled College walls to join passing US Army regiment going to Mex. front. Fought number of battles. Hit by discharge shell on forehead. It Left a large divet wound that was felt & visable. Became carpentor around western US and Mex. after war (Spoke span.Eng.Germ.Galic). Made NYC, opened a boarding house and took in Irish imigrates for info on "old country". In fenians NYC as recruiter for original Fenians after Civil War. Travel ofter back to Ireland for the cause. Arested in Kerry swearing in recruits. Jailed in Dublin for 7 years at Mountjoy prison,Dublin. Tortured. Bread & water 3 weeks for refusing to state religion- called himself a "pagen" as he was mad a church for forgiving England for invansion of ireland. Released 1871 with 31 others by as he called her "Mrs Brown", Queen Victoria or the Pope "Boss". Number of Mountjoy Xpows Return to NYC to lrg. parade and then Washington. Unknown dead date or place of Pat burial? Sup. Norfolk Va.Army hosp. Heard a pic of him with bandito bullet "X" holders across chest during war. unknow if married, doubt it?. In Irish transcripts of trials.
