My GGGG Grandfather who died in the 1920's claimed to have guarded prisioners in New Orleans during this war .. his service record can not be found . He would have been 17 at the time .. is this possible ? What role did New Orleans play in this war and where would prisioners been held in the New Orleans area if they were there at all ? Thanks !
