Sue, I have been following several genforums and finally opened up this one recently. It appears you are an avid researcher. I am trying to verify the service and/or death of John Needles, born 1818, in the Mexican American War. He is supposed to have been in the Ohio Volunteers (could be Ohio Army) and from Champaign County where he left three orphaned children. Do any of your records show him in the war. I have had no luck with any of the census. I don't have his wife's name but the children were Nancy, Sarah and William. Any clues. Thanks And for Dee Seadler, William Needles born 1847 served in the Civil War but kept getting sent home when they discovered how young he was. (thus your relative might have done the same) He then did serve in the Spanish American War as well as ride for the Pony Express
