I am searching for information on the Jack Umphrey family that lived in the Lorane (Siuslaw), Lane County, Oregon area before 1920. I am revising my book, "Sawdust & Cider; A History of Lorane, Oregon and the Siuslaw Valley" which was originally published in 1987. I would like to include a piece on the Umphrey family who lived there in the early part of the 1900s. I especially want information on their home on Fire Road as we are trying to trace its history and age, as well. There was once a covered bridge over Fire Road that was called Umphrey's Bridge. If you have any information on the family, the home, or ??? while they lived in the Lorane area, I would really appreciate getting it ASAP, as the book will be going to the publisher by July 1, 2006. Thanks! Pat Edwards |
