You said you found Charles on the 1860 census, but didn't say which county. I saw him on the Find a Grave site with links to two of his sons. So I went looking for them on the 1870 census and found Charles and Margaret with the two sons and Margaret's sister Lutitia (Letitia on 1860 census.) Census for 1860 and 1870 were Lamar Co, TX.
